trying hair on for size

I am getting my hair cut this Saturday. I’ve been having (a lot of) trouble with thinning, particularly at the hairline to the top of my head, and I’m considering lopping off some of my length to keep the weight from dragging it down and emphasizing scalp see-through at the crown.

I love longer hair on me. I like the mermaid effect. I do have fine hair so I’ve never been able to really support a length past my shoulder blades, but the thought of it being really short makes me shudder. I have had short hair before. I don’t think it’s very pretty.

So I tried to think about what I might look like if I went from dragging on my back to, say, shoulder length. I used the InStyle Hollywood Makeover site, where you can upload a photo of yourself and try on celebrity hair.

Other than the fact that I had no makeup on and felt pretty silly, what do you think?

I kind of like the first image but since my hair is fine and straight it would look more like the second (although probably not as fluffed.)

I’ve a very high forehead and prefer bangs/fringe. However my bangs are the thinnest part of my hair right now, which was why I was considering growing them out. Hrm….

Picture one is a little long, but I like the layering. I think if I shorten it a bit it might work.

Another kind of bob (my hair would not look that thick) and a crazy idea to cut it so short I couldn’t put it in a ponytail. I do look all right with chin-length hair but I think that’s a bit drastic.

Basically bobs. My hair is fine and thin enough that the last photo is probably the most realistic.
